If you have the money to do a swap. But the 7.3 with a 5 speed will pull perfect. I love my 96 7.3 way better compared to my dads 98 12v Cummins. And if that Cummins is stock with no power upgrades it has NO power. I would just take the 7.3 and put a cold air intake, a 3 inch dp to a 4 inch, and I'd put a chip on it.

I love a Cummins, cheap and easy to work on, dt466 Needs a bit more room but find one with a p pump and your golden not to mention about the same amount of performance parts available thanks to tractor pullers

Totally your opinion, if all the ones I've owned and my dad owned weren't junk I probably would liked them. Before I had my 96 obs 7.3 I had a 90 dodge Cummins 4x4 auto. The pump leaked like crazy and I replaced it and then that one started leaking and my injectors leaked fuel and one would stick open and cause a lot of white smoke. Dad has an 02 dodge 24v that the computer fried because Cummins was stupid to put the computer on the side of the block to get hot and short out. Dad now has a 98 12v ain't bad but it has leaky injectors too. I just haven't had luck with them. They do sound awesome though. I just love my 7.3...
